(02-01) 12:35 PST Alameda, Calif. (AP) —

The Oakland Raiders hired Brad Roll on Friday to be the team’s new strength and conditioning coach.

Roll replaces Jeff Fish, who joined the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week after spending four seasons with the Raiders.

Roll, who interviewed for the job with head coach Lane Kiffin, spent the past two seasons as strength coach with the St. Louis Rams. He previously worked for Buffalo, Miami and Tampa Bay during his 15 years in the NFL. Roll also was strength coach at the University of Miami from 1989-92, winning two national championships.

The Raiders are also still working on finalizing an agreement with James Lofton to become receivers coach. Lofton, fired Jan. 22 by San Diego, would take over duties from Charles Coe, who will be reassigned.
